The most important point
A SmartnCV percentage is an estimate generated from the CV and job description you provide. It does not accept or reject a candidate and has no legal or employment effect.
What the match estimate considers
The role-specific estimate combines requirement evidence, shared skills and terminology, relevant experience and stated qualifications. Essential requirements carry more weight. When qualifications do not apply, their weight is redistributed across the remaining components.
CV health is separate
The CV-health estimate checks readable content and common document signals such as core sections, length and bullet use. It does not measure your worth, intelligence, employability or suitability for every role.
Why scores can be wrong
- The job description may be incomplete, vague or written differently from your CV.
- Document extraction can miss content, especially in scanned files or complex layouts.
- Keyword similarity does not prove the depth, recency or quality of experience.
- Employers use different criteria, systems, interviews and human judgement.
- Language and historical hiring patterns can contain bias; a numerical score does not remove that risk.
How to use the result
Use the evidence links and recommendations as review prompts. Check every suggestion yourself and add only information that is accurate and genuinely yours. Never change a CV simply to chase a higher number.
