SmartnCV is a free, independently operated service founded by Nikita Telrandhe. This notice explains what information is processed and what happens to it.

Who is responsible

SmartnCV, operated by Nikita Telrandhe, is responsible for the personal information processed through this service. You can raise a privacy question or rights request through the contact and data-deletion page.

Information we process

  • Guest analysis: the CV, job description, extracted text and filenames you submit.
  • CV builder: the information you type into a draft, which is saved only in your own browser unless you choose to run a job match.
  • Contact requests: your name, email address, request type and message.
  • Service operation: limited technical request information needed by the hosting service to deliver and protect the website.
  • Consented product analytics: a random first-party visitor token and short-lived session token are issued by the server. SmartnCV stores only keyed HMAC-derived values, together with the event type, general page path or input method, consent wording version, event time, approximate country for page views and test-data flag. Country is supplied by the hosting network; analytics does not store IP addresses or precise locations.
  • Usage counter: one aggregate total of completed analyses, without CV text, filenames or user identity.

Why we process it

Guest documents are processed because you ask SmartnCV to produce a match report. Contact information is used to answer your request. Limited technical information supports service security and reliability. To limit automated abuse, your IP address is converted into a keyed security token that rotates daily; the raw IP address is not stored in this counter. Request counters expire within 24 hours and are removed during subsequent request cleanup. These security counters are separate from optional analytics. Optional analytics are used only with your consent to understand genuine product use, distinguish new and returning browsers, improve the service and document growth accurately.

Automatic deletion after analysis

Uploaded CV and job-description files, together with their extracted text, are processed for the current request and automatically discarded when the analysis finishes. They are not written to SmartnCV's user database or sold.

A builder draft is different: it remains in your browser on that device until you select Start a new CV or clear the website's stored data.

Sharing, selling and model training

SmartnCV does not sell CV information. Guest documents are not used to train an AI model. The hosting provider processes technical information needed to run and secure the service; SmartnCV does not disclose CV content to advertisers or data brokers.

Privacy-safe product measurement

SmartnCV does not send optional analytics events or create a visitor identifier before you choose Accept analytics. The identifier is random, first-party, HttpOnly and unavailable to page scripts. Only a keyed HMAC-derived value is stored in D1; the raw token is never stored in analytics. Builder analytics records that a session started, a draft met the completion rules or a PDF download began; it never records the CV fields themselves. SmartnCV does not use names, email addresses, CV text, job-description text, filenames, full IP addresses, advertising identifiers or browser fingerprinting for this measurement.

A unique visitor means one consented browser, not a verified person. A returning visitor means that the same consented browser was first seen before the selected reporting period. People who reject or do not answer are not included in those figures. Authenticated founder activity is excluded from public-use statistics.

How long information is kept

Guest documents and extracted text are discarded after the analysis request. Builder drafts remain only on your device until you clear them. Contact-request information is kept only while it is needed to respond, protect the service or meet a legal obligation. The analytics preference and pseudonymous visitor cookie expire after no more than 12 months; the session cookie expires after 30 minutes. Product-event and pseudonymous visitor records are automatically removed after 24 months. Aggregate evidence exports may be retained as service-history records.

Your analytics choice

You can accept or reject optional analytics without losing access to the CV checker or builder. Use the permanent Cookie settings control to withdraw consent later. Withdrawal clears the visitor and session cookies and stops future optional analytics; earlier pseudonymous events remain only for the stated retention period.

Your choices and rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of personal information. Because the analytics key is pseudonymous and SmartnCV does not hold the raw token in its database, it may not be possible to connect an analytics record to you after cookies are cleared. Submit a request through the contact page. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Keep unnecessary details out

Before uploading, remove passport numbers, National Insurance numbers, banking information and any sensitive personal information that is not needed for the job application.
